Call for Researchers to a Research on Hausa Accent Integration over Natural Language Processing (NLP) for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Assistant Tools Development by Iconic University

The Directorate of Research and Development (DRD) at Iconic Open University is pleased to announce its intention to conduct research on the Hausa Language Accent on the Natural Language Processing (NLP) for AI Assistant Tools Development, with a specific focus on the Sokoto and Kano Hausa Accents.

As an institution focusing on innovation and research, Iconic Open University strives to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and technology in various fields, and this research project presents an exciting opportunity for researchers and candidates to make a valuable contribution to the field of AI development.

The DRD at Iconic University is dedicated to promoting and supporting research activities that address key challenges facing our society. With this research project, we aim to explore the potential of NLP in harnessing and enhancing the use of Hausa dialect and its accents, specifically focusing on the Sokoto and Kano Accents, for AI development.

The main objective of this research is to investigate the Hausa dialect, it accents and its complexities, and apply NLP techniques to develop a more efficient and accurate language model for AI Assistant tools development. This research will also explore the cultural and societal aspects of the language, and how they can be incorporated into AI technology to enhance its effectiveness in the Hausa speaking context.

Qualifications

We are inviting applications from highly qualified and motivated research candidates who possess a strong background in linguistics (Hausa and English), computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, software engineering or related fields only, and have a keen interest in AI development and language processing. Applicants should be able to demonstrate exceptional research skills and a solid understanding of NLP techniques.

We encourage employers of related practicing professionals and other related industry stakeholders to motivate them to apply. The successful candidates will have access to research resources, techniques and tools, as well as the opportunity to work with a team of renowned experts in the field.

We expect the selected candidates to contribute to the research project in the following ways:

- Conducting in-depth research on Hausa language Accent and its complexities, and compile a compendium with a focus on the Sokoto and Kano Accents.

- Utilizing NLP techniques to develop an efficient and accurate language model for AI development using the Hausa language.

- Investigating the cultural and societal aspects of the Hausa language and how they can be incorporated into AI technology to enhance its effectiveness.

- ⁠Ensuring adequate focus, priority and attention is given to the catchment areas of the research to enable easy development of Practical Applications Possibilities (PAPs) by future researchers on the same subject matter.

- Collaborating with other researchers and experts to share knowledge and ideas and contribute to the overall success of the project.

- Presenting research findings at conferences and workshops, as well as publishing in reputable journals.

- A cover letter outlining your research interests, relevant experience, and the reasons for your interest in this specific project.
- Contact information of three professional references who can attest to your research capabilities.
