B.Ed. Educational Management

The B. Ed. Educational Management program is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to effectively manage educational institutions or organizations. This program emphasizes the strategic and operational planning of educational initiatives, as well as the identification of financial, budgeting and personnel needs. Students will learn to analyze data, design curriculum, assess student development and research instructional materials. Additionally, they will develop the skills necessary for managing personnel and communication with stakeholders. Finally, students will gain experience in developing effective policies and systems to promote education initiatives. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be wellprepared to pursue successful careers in education management.

The objectives of the program are, among others, to:

  1. produce graduates that are competent as both teachers and managers of educational organizations;
  2. enhance the productivity and relevance of education to the society through professional management of the sector;
  3. lead the spirit of enquiry, creativity and entrepreneurship of teaching through leadership by example;
  4. enlist motivation into all personnel of the different segments of the Education sector.
  5. be in a better position to lead others in the education sector and outside it;
  6. produce the needed manpower and human resource to fill vacancies in Ministries of Education, Several Education Related Agencies and in all levels of educational institutions; and
  7. adequately train and produce graduates for employment in all levels of educational ladder, the Ministries of Education, Local Government and other Education related agencies.

Those with a B.Ed. in Educational Management are poised to take advantage of the numerous career opportunities available to them. Educational administrators work to develop, plan and implement educational strategies for school systems, colleges and universities. These administrators oversee all aspects of education, from curriculum design to budgeting and personnel management. Educational directors are usually employed by government agencies and non-profit organizations to lead educational reform initiatives and oversee programs and services. 

The demand for professionals with experience in educational management is continually growing. This is largely due to the ever-increasing need for quality teachers, administrators and other personnel in the education sector. Many institutions, both public and private, are turning to those with advanced degrees in educational management to staff these positions.

For individuals with an interest in improving educational opportunities, a B.ED. in Educational Management may be the right step forward. Jobs in this field are both rewarding and challenging, with a variety of unique opportunities and experiences. Admission into Iconic University of Open Learning for bachelor’s degree does not require JAMB result, but candidate will be asked to get a JAMB regularization number upon successful admission in order to be used for his/her NYSC at the time of graduation.  

Note: Admission for B.Ed. Educational Management is available only for 100 level now.

  • 100 Level (Freshman)
  1. Five (5) credits pass in WAEC, NECO, NBAIS, or similar bodies as recognized. The credit passes must include English Language, and Mathematics and any other 3 subjects, at not more than two sittings.
  2. Five (5) merits in NABTEB or Teachers Grade Two examinations in Science subjects. Also, the credit passes must include English Language, and Mathematics and any other 3 subjects.
  • 200 Level (Sophomores)
  1. The Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with a merit pass in English Language in addition to a credit pass in Mathematics/Computer/Physics/Biology/Chemistry.
  2. National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Physics/Computer/Mathematics/Statistics/Information Technology/Software Engineering/Data Science/Artificial Intelligence from reputable institutions with a minimum of Lower Credit.
  3. GCE Advance level with at least two credit passes.
  4. OND with evidence of proficiency in Physics/Computer Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Information Technology/Software Engineering/Data Science/Artificial Intelligence.
  5. Certificate in Information Technology/Computer Science or the equivalent from a recognized University in addition to three O’ Level papers in Sciences, including credit pass in English Language, and Mathematics. 
  6. First degree (B.Sc./B.Ed.) in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology and any other B.Ed. degree.

Iconic University charges modest fees that give learners the chance to pay per semester only. Nigerian candidates seeking admission will pay an application fee of N10,000 and $30 would be paid by international applicants.
