B.Sc. COmputer & Information Technology
B.Sc. Computer and Information Technology is a four–year undergraduate programme that focuses on the study of hardware, software, and networks. It provides an in–depth understanding of the use of computers and other information technology systems in the context of businesses, organizations, and society. The programme also provides skills related to problem–solving, communication, design, and implementation of computer–based systems. Coursework includes topics such as computer programming, software engineering, databases, operating systems, networking, and web design. Additionally, students gain knowledge in the fields of artificial intelligence, data structures, algorithms, and computer graphics. Through this programme, graduates are prepared to work in various computer–related industries.
The objectives of the Bachelor of Science in Computer & Information Technology Programme are to:
- provide students with a broad and balanced foundation of Information Technology knowledge and practical skills;
- equip students with the necessary professional skills to practice as successful IT professionals and compete effectively in a world of rapid technological change;
- develop in students a range of transferable skills of Information Technology in all aspects of human endeavour;
- develop students for the purpose of self-employment and job placement in the government and industries serving the needs of the local and global community; and
- develop skills for career development and life-long learning.
B.Sc. Computer & Information Technology is a specialized degree that prepares students to work in the rapidly growing field of computer and information technology. This degree will help students to understand and develop solutions to the challenges faced by organisations in managing, securing, and utilizing their data.
Careers in this field include software engineering, network engineering, systems analysis, web design, database administration, and more. B.Sc. Admission into Iconic University for bachelor’s degree does not require JAMB result, but candidates will be asked to get a JAMB regularisation number upon successful admission in order to be used for his/her NYSC at the time of graduation.
- 100 Level (Freshman)
- Five (5) credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NBAIS, or similar bodies as recognized. The credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics and Physics, at not more than two sittings.
- Five (5) merits in NABTEB or Teachers Grade Two examinations in Science subjects. Also, the credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics and Physics.
- 200 Level (Sophomores)
- The Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with a merit pass in English Language in addition to a credit pass in Mathematics/Computer/Physics/Biology/Chemistry.
- National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Physics/Computer/Mathematics/Statistics/Information Technology/Software Engineering/Data Science/Artificial Intelligence from reputable institutions with a minimum of Lower Credit.
- GCE Advance level with at least two credit passes.
- OND with evidence of proficiency in Physics/Computer Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Information Technology/Software Engineering/Data Science/Artificial Intelligence.
- Certificate in Information Technology/Computer Science or the equivalent from a recognised university in addition to three O’ Level papers in Sciences, including credit pass in English Language, and Mathematics.
- First degree (B.Sc.) in Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry or Biology.
Iconic University charges modest fees that give learners the chance to pay per semester only. Nigerian candidates seeking admission will pay an application fee of N10,000 and $30 would be paid by international applicants.
