Diploma in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
The Diploma in STEM Education for Primary Teachers at Iconic University is a 1-semester programme that aims to provide innovative, inquiry-based, and inclusive learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics for young learners. Through a student-centered approach, teachers will be equipped to guide students in exploring scientific principles, technological tools, engineering challenges, and mathematical reasoning. The program promotes the integration of STEM across various subject areas and utilizes global resources, coding tools, robotics, and simulation technologies. Graduates will develop into reflective practitioners, capable of adapting to changing educational environments, fostering curiosity, inspiring creativity, and nurturing problem-solving skills in students aged 5-11.
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Articulate key principles, global trends, and child development theories guiding STEM education in primary schools.
- Conduct a range of hands-on science experiments and integrate inquiry-based learning to nurture creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity.
- Implement programming fundamentals using age-appropriate coding platforms (e.g., Scratch Jr., Scratch, code.org) and teach basic computing skills to young learners.
- Integrate educational robotics and embedded systems (e.g., Botley, micro:bit, mBot) to bring practical, real-world STEM applications into the classroom.
- Access, adapt, and utilize STEM resources, databases, and digital tools to continuously enrich instruction and create inclusive learning environments.

- critical thinking.
• Minimum of an NCE (Nigerian Certificate in Education) or bachelor’s degree in any field, preferably with a background in science, computing, or engineering.
• Demonstrated passion for teaching STEM subjects in primary schools.
• International candidates should posses a diploma or bachelor’s degree in any field, preferably with a background in science, computing, or engineering.
Iconic University charges modest fees that give learners the chance to pay per semester only. Nigerian candidates seeking admission will pay an application fee of N5,000 and $10 would be paid by international applicants.
